Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
– Lead and mentor a globally distributed team of design engineers, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
– Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting innovation and excellence.
– Coordinate with regional design teams to standardize processes and ensure consistency in design practices.
2. Design and Engineering:
– Oversee the development of comprehensive MEP designs for new and existing data centers.
– Ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
– Integrate CSA principles into the design process to ensure the structural integrity and safety of data center facilities.
3. Operational Support:
– Provide expert engineering support for the operation and maintenance of data centers.
– Develop and implement strategies for improving operational efficiency and reliability.
– Collaborate with the operations team to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
4. Project Management:
– Lead the planning and execution of data center design projects from inception to completion.
– Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
– Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including construction, IT, and security, to align project goals and deliverables.
5. Strategic Planning and Innovation:
– Develop long-term strategies for data center design that align with the company’s growth and technological advancement goals.
– Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in data center design.
– Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and outcomes.
6. Compliance and Risk Management:
– Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
– Identify and mitigate risks associated with design and construction projects.
– Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance and performance.
– This position requires the ability to travel internationally as needed to support global projects and teams.
– Flexible working hours may be required to coordinate with teams in different time zones.
Minimum Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
– 5+ years of experience in data center design, with a focus on MEP engineering.
– Proven experience in CSA principles and their application in data center environments.
– Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
– Demonstrated success in leading and managing globally distributed teams.
– Strong background in providing operational engineering support for data centers.
– Experience in technical evaluation of design submissions and optimizing data hall standards.
– Familiarity with code and fire code regulations, and experience with liquid cooling deployments.
– Strong project management abilities, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
– Deep understanding of data center infrastructure, including cooling, power distribution, and emergency systems.
– Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
